Limited Edition Lisbon Lions Painting Each painting is named, numbered, and signed by Graham McKean. In addition to this, there is a signed certificate which is personally signed by the eight surviving members of the 'Lisbon Lions' squad. Craig, Gemmell, McNeill, Clark, Wallace, Chalmers, Auld and Lennox were part of the greatest ever eleven to wear the green and white hoops of Celtic. Each of the 300 prints is deco edged and floated onto the mount board, which means everyone is individual as this process is done by hand. The painting comes framed to museum standard by 'ARTHIRE' in Glasgow. 'I consider it an honour to have been commissioned by Celtic FC to portray the 1967 European cup winning team known as the Lisbon Lions. This painting will form part of the 49th anniversary celebrations and tributes. Being such an important and major achievement in Scotland's sporting history, I wanted to product an image that was original, unique and different from the traditional and formal team portrait, therefore I decided on a scene of the now legendary Jock Stein lifting the cup in victory. I worked from 12 small black and white photos of each individual, and the more I studied these snaps the more I became aware of the strong sense of humour within the team and I felt this aspect very important to convey in the painting. My outlook on art is that it should uplift, celebrate and inspire. Each day working on this painting brought a smile to my face and I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to paint it.'
